While perhaps not the most well-known or first-to-mind brand when PC shopping, Fujitsu has nevertheless brought some venerable notebooks and handhelds to market - from the pocketable U-Series to their plethora of full-size convertible tablets. The SH76 - the newest redesign of their LifeBook SH Series - converges a full suite of features, culminating in the thinnest 13.3” notebook on the market with an integrated DVD or Blu-Ray Drive option.
Weighing only 1.34kg (2.95lbs), the SH76 manages to pack its impressive list of features into such a thin body with the use of magnesium alloy in its construction. During Fujitsu’s own tests, the SH76 managed to survive clamshell load testing of up to 200kgf (440ft-lbs). While not a guarantee against damage, you can be reasonably assured it’ll survive those trips through your carry-on or checked luggage. This strength is even more impressive when taking into account the thinness: 16.6mm at its thinnest point, and only 23.2mm at its thickest, maintaining a size range under an inch throughout.
Its 13.3-inch (1366×768) TFT LCD LED backlit display is powered by Intel HD Graphics 3000, an Intel Core i5-2520M or Core i7-2640M (both Sandy Bridge), up to 8GB of DDR3 PC3 -10600 (Dual Channel) memory and 128GB or 256GB SSD drives. 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, HDMI, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, High Definition Audio (with DTS Boost for enhanced surround sound effects from only two integrated speakers, 0.3MP webcam, SD card reader (up to 32GB media cards) round out a complete feature set that make this one of the most widely capable notebooks available, and not just in its size class.
The SH76 is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and features a phenomenal battery that can last up to 13.7 hours (up from 11 hours on the previous generation model) on a single charge when equipped with its standard Lithium-ion 27Wh battery. An enhanced bay battery is also available for an up to 18.2 hour charge, giving you the flexibility of not just a full work day, but a nearly a full real day of powerful computing.
The SH76 is a quiet sleeper of a machine with a sleek profile, lightweight and hardy material construction, and plentiful performance. If you need a flexible performance device without compromising the need for speed and peace of mind, this one is worth a look.
When purchased from Dynamism, the Fujitsu SH series includes unlimited toll-free tech phone and email support, and Dynamism's Fedex rescue service warranty.
