Q: Can this printer use 1.75mm filament?
A: No, Ultimaker printers support use of 2.85mm filament only.
Q: Can I order/add on a second extruder?
A: No, this printer is single-extruder only.
Q: Can I print with materials other than PLA, ABS or CPE?
A: Yes, but materials other than PLA, ABS or CPE are unsupported and the user is responsible for choosing proper print settings. Any issues or damage resulting directly from use of unsupported material is not considered to be a warranty issue.
Q: Can I print using NinjaFlex?
A: The user is free to choose material from any manufacturer, but NinjaFlex is not supported by Ultimaker nor recommended for Bowden setups. Please note that it is very difficult to print flexible and other experimental materials, and this is something only experienced users should attempt.
Q: Does the printer come with a heated bed?
A: The Ultimaker 2/Extended/+ come with a heated bed; the Ultimaker 2 Go does not.
Q: What’s the difference between the Ultimaker 2/Extended and the Ultimaker 2+/Extended+?
A: The Extended models offer an additional 4 inches of build area in the Z (height).
Q: Is any filament included with the printer?
A: Yes, all Ultimaker printers come with one full spool of PLA filament.
Q: Are there any accessories or spare parts I need to order along with the printer?
A: The printer comes with everything you need to get started. It is recommended to order some additional spare parts - such as nozzles - to reduce the potential for downtime (For specific advice, please contact Dynamism Sales).
Q: What does the warranty cover?
A: The one-year manufacturer’s warranty covers parts and defects excluding the hot end components. The hot end components are considered consumable parts and have a lifespan of around 200-300 print hours - depending on the filament material used.
Please note for customers outside of the US: Dynamism will cover freight costs to the customer on unit warranty repairs, but the customer is responsible for any taxes on delivery. The customer is responsible for return unit warranty shipments from the customer and for freight costs on warranty parts to the customer.
Q: Can I use a slicer other than Cura?
A: Yes, Ultimaker printers are fully open-source, allowing the user to choose any open-source slicing software that outputs .gcode files.
Q: Can I print via USB/WiFi?
A: Ultimaker officially supports printing via SD card only. Third-party services or slicers may enable you to print via USB, but this is not supported by the manufacturer. The USB port is used only to update the printer's firmware.
Q: Are there extended warranty options?
A: At this time the one-year manufacturer's warranty is the only warranty available. Technical support will continue to be available beyond the warranty period, but once the printer is out of warranty, replacement parts are provided at the uer's expense.
Q: Does Dynamism service the warranty?
A: Dynamism provides first-tier technical support via phone and email. If a user requires warranty service or has an advanced technical issue, Dynamism will direct them to fbrc8 - Ultimaker's US assembly and warranty partner.
