H2C Combo & Upgrade FAQ

  • What hotends are included in the H2C Combo? If I want full hotend-swap capability, what additional hotends do I need? How should the AMS be connected?

    The H2C AMS Combo / Laser Full Combo includes 8 hotends and 1 AMS 2 Pro:
    Right Hotends (Induction Hotends):

    4 × 0.4 mm hardened steel induction hotends (1 pre-installed, 3 in accessory box)
    1 × 0.2 mm induction hotend (accessory box)
    1 × 0.6 mm induction hotend (accessory box)

    Left Hotends (Standard Hotends):
    2 × 0.4 mm hardened steel standard hotends (1 pre-installed, 1 in accessory box)

    Notes:

    Firmware currently supports mixed flow-rate printing (standard flow + high flow).
    Mixing different nozzle sizes during printing is not yet supported.

    Recommended for full Vortek 6-hotend experience:

    H2C Ultimate Set includes:

    3 × 0.4 mm induction hotends
    1 × 0.2 mm left hotend
    1 × 0.6 mm left hotend
    1 × AMS 2 Pro
    1 × AMS HT

    AMS Connection Options:
    H2C Combo
    : 1 × AMS 2 Pro supplies 4 induction hotends.
    Ultimate Setup: Add 1 × AMS 2 Pro + 1 × AMS HT

        Two AMS 2 Pro feed the right hotends
        AMS HT feeds the left hotends

    Multi-AMS Setup: Add 2 × AMS HT
         All three AMS feed the right-side hotends

    Future Setup (2026): Filament Track Switch Module will allow full 7-hotend support with only 2 AMS units, enabling free filament switching between left & right paths.

  • Does the H2C support laser and blade-cutting functions?
    • H2C Laser Edition: Supports 10W and 40W laser modules and is compatible with the blade-cutting module.
    • Non-laser H2C: Supports blade-cutting by default; can be upgraded for laser functionality via an upgrade kit.
  • Can H2S or H2D be upgraded to H2C?
    • Both H2D and H2S can be upgraded to H2C by installing the Vortek Upgrade Kit.
    • The upgrade is complex and time-consuming; purchasing H2C directly is recommended for a full Vortek experience.
    • Upgrading later incurs additional cost.
    • Availability: Early 2026.
  • Can H2C dual-nozzle printing use different nozzle sizes simultaneously?
    • Not currently. Firmware does not support mixing nozzle sizes.
    • Supported: Mixed nozzle types of the same size (e.g., 0.4 mm standard flow + 0.4 mm high flow).
  • Are H2C buildplates, calibration plates, laser platform, and blade-cutting mats compatible with H2D?
    • Buildplates: Not interchangeable (H2C print bed is slightly smaller).
    • Vision calibration plates, laser platform, and blade-cutting mats: Fully compatible across all H2 series models.
