What is a Print Core?
This is the name of the cartridge placed in the print head of the UltiMaker 3 and UltiMaker S5 series. The Print Core is the entire hot-end, with a chip built-in to communicate and sync with the printer, which contains information about the Print Core type and runtime statistics. The design of the Print Core makes it easy to change.
Why can’t the nozzle be changed to a different size?
The nozzle is integrated into the Print Core. It is not recommended to disassemble Print Cores, as the internal components are fragile and assembled with specific force.
Please Note:
-CC Print Cores are compatible for printing abrasive materials on UltiMaker S-line only, UltiMaker 3 / 3 Extended models do not feature a hardened feeder for abrasive materials
-Printing CPE+ and PC with .8mm Print Cores is considered experimental, and printing Breakaway support material is not supported
-Printing PC and PP with .25mm Print Cores is considered experimental, and printing CPE+, TPU 95A, and Breakaway support material is not supported
The experimental combinations that are shown for CPE+, PC and PP have a material profile that can be selected in UltiMaker Cura. However, more complicated prints, with tiny features or a large build plate surface, may show increased warpage or oozing. In these cases, the print core 0.4 is advised.
