Bambu Lab R1 LASER CUTTER / ENGRAVER
Riser Base, Conveyor, Rotary Attachment, Focus Lenses and Focus Lenses and E1 Pro Air Purifier shown throughout this page are optional accessories, sold separately.
Cut and engrave wood, clear acrylic, leather, fabric, paper, EVA foam and shell. Engrave-only on coated metal, glass and ceramic (bare metal cannot be engraved).
Powered by a 55W CO2 laser, R1 works across wood, acrylic, glass, leather, fabric and more, each material bringing its own character to the piece.

Cuts up to 18mm black walnut plywood (medium/long focus) and 20mm acrylic in a single pass. Short-focus: 15mm walnut / 20mm acrylic. Requires medium- or long-focus lens.

With the auto-feed conveyor, R1 handles material up to 3 meters long, pass-through feeding and deep cutting turn full-length panels into tables, shelving and furniture.

Cut and engrave across wood, acrylic, leather, glass, fabric and slate. Coated metal engraves only (bare metal cannot be engraved).

Community and Bambu Lab example projects, cut and engraved on R1. Creator projects are provided for illustration only — see disclaimer and full credits in Notes.

1Requires the medium- or long-focus lens, sold separately; all references to wood refer to plywood.
2Based on image engraving at maximum speed and acceleration settings: R1 at 1,000 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s², compared with a typical CO₂ laser at its maximum settings.
3Riser base, Rotary, medium- and long-focus lenses, and Conveyor are sold separately.
*At launch, only Cylinder Processing is supported. Revolve Shape Processing will be added in a future firmware update.
Cameras, lasers and encoders work together to place every cut exactly where you set it. Positioning accuracy <0.2mm; absolute motion accuracy <0.1mm @600mm.

Captures the full workspace.

Height sensing follows every rise and fall on curved cups, spheres and uneven surfaces to keep engraving sharp.
Surface measurement stays accurate on transparent materials like glass and clear acrylic.
The Toolhead Camera pinpoints small objects and places fine detail exactly where you want it.
Cut around a printed design, trim a sticker, or follow a drawn outline, the camera traces the edge automatically.
Vibration Compensation: Toolhead changing direction at full speed / Even tone: Engraving at 1000 mm/s with consistent depth
Mount the Laser Alignment Sensor on the toolhead, it measures the beam, detects misalignment and corrects the optical path automatically in about one minute. No manual test shots.
Cancels the split-second shake when the toolhead changes direction, keeping lines crisp right out of the turn.
Compensates as it moves so engraving depth/tone stays consistent even at the max 1000mm/s speed.

Safety certification: Class 1 laser (enclosed). Note: with the Riser Base or auto-feed Conveyor attached, the enclosure is no longer complete and the unit becomes a Class 4 device — CO2 laser-safety eyewear required, professional/trained use only.
Most lasers rely on a single exhaust fan. R1 brings fresh air in from one side and exhausts smoke from the other, creating a steady crossflow through the entire chamber.

Connects directly to R1's exhaust outlet and pulls smoke out at the source. Multiple filter layers with activated carbon catch smoke and fine particles and reduce odors.
Open the lid and the laser stops immediately. Stays disabled while the lid is open.

Built-in sensors monitor for signs of flame and respond automatically when detected.

Emergency stop button, standard on every R1.

Note: Auto Fire Extinguishing System requires the Auto Fire Extinguishing System accessory, sold separately.
Raises R1 to create clearance for taller objects. Also required for the Conveyor and the Rotary Attachment.

Automatically feeds long stock through R1, letting you cut and engrave boards up to 3 meters long.

Rotates round objects for full 360° engraving on bottles, bowls, cups and more.

Cuts up to 18 mm black walnut plywood or 20 mm acrylic in one pass.

None of the following are included with the R1 base unit shown above. Riser Base is required before adding the Conveyor or Rotary Attachment. ³

Important: When used with the Riser Base or the auto-feed accessory, the enclosure is no longer complete and the laser cutter changes from an enclosed Class 1 device to a Class 4 device, requiring CO2 laser-safety eyewear, and is intended for professional use by trained personnel only.
Auto Fire Extinguishing System sold separately.
